And so it begins...


One of my most vivid memories of adolescence is watching "A Year of Living Dangerously."  Mel Gibson.  If you are one of the 45 people alive who hasn't seen this movie, run don't walk.  So I am not sure if the year ahead will match this Indonesian adventure, but with the world spinning this way and that with various financial and political crises - well, you never know.  Just call me Sigourney.

Early on in the movie, after the protagonists meet and the plot begins to thicken, Linda Hunt, who narrates the movie with her haunting and unforgettable voice, coyly remarks, "And so it begins..."  I often hear that voice and  phrase in my voice as I head into different life experiences.  On the way to the hospital to deliver my baby girl, walking into a new job, boarding the Metro-North to my first day of class.

Last Thursday, Jaime, the kids, the dog, the cat and 12 suitcases successfully boarded the midnight Iberia flight to Madrid.  And there was Linda's voice in my head again.  There's been a lot of talk, but come on now, here we go...
